چکیده

abstract a 49-year-old man with lutembacher's syndrome associated with frontal meningioma referred to our hospital. he also suffered from exertional dyspnea. transthoracic echocardiography demonstrated mitral valve area of 1.48 cm2, moderate mitral stenosis, and left atrial dimension (lad) of 5.6 cm with no clot. tee revealed severe mitral stenosis, mitral valve area of 1.05 cm2 with wilkins 8-10 score, ejection fraction of 50%, and enlarged left atrium (lad = 5.8 cm) with no clot. induction of anesthesia was commenced taking into account the patient’s specific circumstances, which meant the risk of surgery was high. during surgery, the mitral valve was replaced and the atrial septal defect was repaired without a patch. this case underscores the significance of the adoption of an appropriate therapeutic strategy in the treatment of lutembacher's syndrome with meningioma before meningioma surgery.

Xanthochromic cysts associated with meningioma.

Three cases of cystic meningioma encountered in one year are presented. It appears from a review of the literature, and an analysis of these three cases, that large xanthochromic cerebral cysts may be associated with meningiomas in any of three configurations: (1) centrally within the tumour; (2) peripherally within the tumour; (3) in the adjacent brain. Regardless of which configuration applie...

Chordoid meningioma associated with chronic subdural hematoma.

A 5-year-old male child was admitted with complaints of headache and vomiting of 2Vi months duration. On examination, higher functions were normal. There was bilateral papilldema and no motor or sensory deficit. Plantars were flexor. Hemogram, urinalysis and chest X-ray were normal. Computed tomography revealed evidence of bifrontal subdural hematoma and underlying isodense mass with evidence o...

Chorioretinal folds are a rare presentation of a meningioma. We report a case of a meningioma with chorioretinal folds as its initial presentation. A 39-year-old female patient complained of progressive blurring of the right eye. A fundus examination of the right eye revealed chorioretinal folds. Magnetic resonance imaging found a tumor mass involving the right orbit and right anterior middle c...

Massive cerebral edema associated with meningioma.

Cerebral edema is a well-known complication of malignant astrocytoma and metastatic brain tumour. Though far less frequent, the association of cerebral edema with meningioma is also recognized; this is unpredictable and sometimes out of proportion to tumour size. We describe three cases where the mass effect was due to severe edema, rather than the tumour itself and was responsible for a catast...

Moyamoya Syndrome Associated with Basal Meningioma Successfully Treated by the Modified Transsphenoidal Approach: Case Report

Objective Moyamoya vasculopathy associated with skull base tumors has been rarely reported except for partially removed pituitary adenoma and craniopharyngioma. Only a single case of meningioma resulted in vast cerebral infarction. Surgical treatment carries a high risk of damage to the compensatory collateral circulation through leptomeningeal anastomosis leading to a devastating outcome. Case...
